Had a nice experience at Daata. The food was decent and had some good flavours, although overall it was just okay for me. The real highlight was the dessert absolutely amazing and probably the best part of the meal! Nice atmosphere and friendly service too. Definitely worth trying if you have a sweet tooth.

I was here yesterday with my family and honestly had such a lovely experience. From the moment we walked in, the manager and all the staff were incredibly welcoming—just genuinely kind, friendly people who made us feel comfortable straight away.
A special mention and big THANK YOU to Alfredo — he was super friendly, easy to chat to, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. He had such a positive attitude, checked in at just the right moments, and made sure everything was perfect for us without ever being intrusive. You can tell he really cares about customers and takes pride in his work, which made a big difference to our evening. His Service was spot on all evening. Everything arrived on time, the team checked in just enough without being overbearing, and he really went out of his way to help with anything we needed. Change the table on our request….You can tell he actually care, which makes a big difference. Would definitely come back again and again.
The food looked amazing when it came out—really nicely presented—and tasted just as good. You could see the attention to detail, from the decoration to the portion sizes.
Overall, it was just a great experience. Good food, great service, and a genuinely nice atmosphere. Would definitely come back.
First visit here after a swim, so I arrived wearing a large changing robe to collect a takeaway. I appreciate that I wasn’t dressed for a Friday evening in a restaurant, but that shouldn’t make a difference. I stood right in front of the hostess for several minutes while she chatted with a colleague and wasn’t acknowledged at all. Whether she simply didn’t notice me or made a judgment based on my appearance, it wasn’t a good first impression. A hostess should always be aware when customers are waiting and greet them promptly. Hopefully this is something that can be improved with better training.
Thankfully, another member of staff, a young gentleman, immediately noticed me, greeted me with a big smile, and was incredibly friendly and professional. He completely turned the experience around.
The food was tasty and well worth it.
Great food and excellent service from the gentleman who helped me, but the welcome at the front desk needs improvement.
We have been to DAATA many times and have always considered it one of our local restaurants, so unfortunately our experience on Sunday was extremely disappointing.
We arrived at around 7:30pm and waited over 20 minutes before anyone came to our table. My husband eventually had to go to the till to get someone to serve us. Lydia, our waitress, was lovely, but the service itself was not what we have experienced on our previous visits. We even had to ask again for someone to bring us water.
The food was also disappointing that evening. I ordered the lamb kebab and unfortunately had to send it back as it was not good.
However, the food and service were not even the worst part of our evening.
There were 2 women sitting two tables away from us. Before leaving, one of them, who told us she was from Australia, came over to our table and started lecturing us in front of everyone about how badly we had supposedly treated our waitress. We were absolutely shocked. By the way she was speaking to us, it was also very apparent that she had been drinking.
The accusation was completely unfounded. We had been nothing but polite and respectful to our waitress. We had even asked her name and had a perfectly normal interaction with her. We certainly did not deserve to have another customer come over to our table and publicly accuse and insult us.
What made the situation even more uncomfortable was that the two ladies sitting at the table next to us had witnessed our interaction with the waitress and were themselves shocked by what happened. They could clearly see that we had been respectful.
Lydia repeatedly apologised to us, which we appreciated. But what was extremely disappointing was the complete lack of intervention from management. Not once did a manager or owner come over to check whether we were okay after being confronted and embarrassed by another customer.
We have never experienced anything like this in a restaurant before.
We have given DAATA our business many times and have had good experiences in the past, which makes this even more disappointing. But unfortunately, after Sunday evening, we will not be returning.
A disappointing meal can happen. Poor service can happen. But when a customer is confronted and insulted by another diner, management should step in and make sure their customers feel safe, respected and supported.
Sadly, our entire evening was ruined. DAATA, this is not the way a situation like this should have been handled.
My wife and I have been to Daata in Glasthule many times, and we've also ordered food for collection.
Everything about the place is exceptional. The food is some of the best we've ever had, and all the staff are so polite and helpful. It has a fantastic atmosphere, and it's always busy, which is a great sign.
Well done to all involved, we'll definitely be back. See you soon!
